Peabody Preserve Outdoor Classroom is a 39-acre nature preserve owned by the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, used for hands-on learning in the outdoors. Local residents have created a trail system on the site to allow access to the many points of interest there, including a pond, a freshwater wetland, a saltwater wetland, a forest, an apple orchard, views of the Hudson River, and ruins of a brick factory that operated on the site from the turn-of-the-century to the 1960’s, making bricks and pots from clay extracted from the site.
The Peabody Preserve Outdoor Classroom relies on the support and involvement of our community to thrive. We need volunteers to help maintain the site and support the teachers and the students who use it.
